Camping has always been a favorite activity for Girl Scouts. Our earliest records show that girls camped soon after their first troop meetings. Resident camps began as early as 1917 here in the Nation's capital area, Camp Bradley was at the military camp Ft. Mead in Magnolia, MD. It was named after Gen. Bradley, who was quite helpful in getting permission for the use of the camp.
Rockwood National Center, now Rockwood Manor Park Montgomery County, MD, The property was willed to the Girls Scouts (national) in 1936. It is no longer owned by GSUSA but maintained by the Maryland Parks and Planning Commission since 1979 (History)
Camp Aquasco Farm, Aquasco, MD, Current Troop and day camp. In 1974, the property was acquired in a land swap for the former Camp Plato Place property in Forestville, MD, 1st work week-end was October 1978 and the first campfire was lit at the First Fall Encampment in 1979 (History) (GSCNC current site)
Camp Bay Breeze, Lusby, MD..Former resident camp. Sold in October 1974 to State of Maryland, it is now part of Calvert Cliffs State Park. On the banks of the Chesapeak Bay in an area famous for fossil and marine study. Units were Chippewa ( 8 platform tents), Mahogalite( 8 platform tents) and Whispering Pines( 9 platform tents). Camp Bradley, One of the first resident camps in the DC area was outside Magnolia (near Ft. Meade), MD (1917 - 1926). The loan of the site with kitchen, tents, waterfront and playing fields was arranged by General Omar Bradley, thus was it named in his honor.

Camp Coles Trip, Stafford, VA. Opened as the resident camp for the Northern Virginia Girl Scout Council in 1956. It is now a GSCNC troop & resident camp. Units are Aquai Lodge, Arrowhead Lodge, Forest Hideaway, Sunse Hills, Ridge, Pioneer, Holly Ridge, Happiness. (History)

Camp MaWaVi, Triangle, Va. 1940 - 19-50 Current NPS group cabin camp. Arlington Girl Scout Council first leased this new ly built CCC camp until WWII required that they find a new camp. (History)
Camp Misty Mount, Catoctin Mountain, Thurmont, MD, Former camp in the 1940's to late 1970's. The property was the resident camp from 1he 1940's for Southern Maryland Girl Scout Council which merged to form GSCNC in 1963. In preparation for the 1978 Egypt -Israeli Peace conference at Camp David property adjoining Camp David was reclaimed by National Park Service.
